The physical practices give added benefits that equate to ordinary aerobic exercise but without the strain on the body. A yoga practice of 90 minutes gives the same benefits as a 2-mile run!
Unlike most forms of aerobic exercise, correct yoga practice provides you with a greater sense of body awareness whilst doing the poses, therefore injury and strain are less likely for the heart and joints.
The practice of yoga creates a sense of ‘being in the moment’ which is, in itself, a restful state to be in. Stamina develops over time.
